James David (JD) is a strategic sustainable agricultural development professional with over 10 years experience in designing, executing and overseeing food and market systems programs aimed to support smallholder farmers. Recognized for spearheading donor-funded projects, maximizing technology adoption among farmers and building lasting partnerships in public and private sector. He has proven ability to bridge stakeholder's consensus, foster relationships, and lead teams to success.
JD has served in a senior managerial positions in a leading Kenyan-NGO renowned for innovative approaches to first/last mile mile service delivery for smallholder farmers, inclusive of youth and women. As Management & Leadership Team member, Partnerships and Technical Lead, and Programs Manager, he led the technical direction and growth of FIPS-Africa as it increases food security and improves livelihoods for over 1,000,000 smallholder farmers in Africa in over 4,000 villages.
JD enabled growth of organization in Kenya from 25 to 153 staff and 2,000 Village-based Agricultural Advisors who earn an income offering appropriate options, services and advice to farmers. He co-developed range of models for sustainable extension systems to meet different agro-ecologies; developed an organizational technical competence that listens to farmers, understands their problems and finds and adapts appropriate options that will double their productivity for range of crops and livestocks in ways that is climate smart and environmentally friendly.
