Rev. Fr. James is an ordained Catholic priest with over nine years of ministerial work particularly within the Lake Victoria region. He is a gifted and practical-oriented thinker and philosopher whose sermons are extremely reflective, deep, provocative, relational, and empathetic. James’ ministry is to the latter and whose natural transformation is evidently and innately identical to both the common folks and elite groups. Fr. James has used his calling to the priesthood as a tool for socio-economic transformation preaching in a manner that instil hope in the general society, both here on earth and in the afterlife. He teaches and mentor the catholic adherents and local communities how to meaningfully participate in their economic endeavours, demystifying the complex “faith without work” concepts into practically simple digestible truths and doable actions. He has prominent and rich history in speaking up for the weak and the downtrodden. His boldness and firmness for social justice has earned him trans-regional fame when he stood against political impunity and excesses that systemically and authoritatively attempted to grab church parish land in Migori County. By God’s grace, he outwitted political intimidation, death threats, and manhunts for defending the church property, a matter he still pursues within the corridors of justice on behalf of the congregants. James is known for consistently speaking truths to the power, advocating for good governance and successful implementation of devolution, youth and children empowerment, and environmental protection and conservation.
